Chalazion

Chalazion is a condition that affects the glands of the eyelid. It is one of the most common eyelid conditions! Chalazions more commonly occur in adults but it can be treated and even prevented with the proper care. If you develop a chalazion, be sure to make an appointment with the team at Hecker Eye Care Associates in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Doctors use a variety of treatments to help relieve your symptoms and resolve the issue!

A chalazion is a slowly developing inflammatory lump that forms due to blockage and swelling of an oil gland in the eyelid. This is in comparison to a stye which is an infection of the oil glands. A stye is usually very small, painful, and red in comparison to a chalazion which is a large, firm and painless lump. However, if a stye is left untreated it can turn into a chalazion.
